Svea is passionate about connecting with people and communities through dance and movement classes and workshops. Svea teaches a variety of dance styles, from contemporary fusion, hip hop and house to floorwork, improvisation and creative movement. Svea hols a certificate in dance pedagogy from the Iwanson School of Contemporary Dance in Munich and graduated from the PILOBOLUS teacher training course, exploring PILOBOLUS' unique approach to foster creativity and build confidence through movement and improvisation based exercises. Svea has been teaching regularly since 2006. Before moving to Peru she held regular classes in NYC as a faculty member at the Peridance Capezio Center's Kids Program, PMT House of Dance, Equinox, PS 158 and several after school programs. While on tour with Decadancetheatre (2006-2008) she taught masterclasses and workshops at many colleges and universities throughout the US and Europe. During her time as the artistic director of D1 Dance in Peru she had the honor to share her passion of dance through ongoing classes & workshops with more than 800 underpriviledged children and young adults in Lima as well as in Northern Peru. Throughout the years, Svea has developed a unique approach and philosophy to her teaching method. Through mindful awareness, improvisation, movement based group exercises, partnering and contemporary and urban dance technique, she creates a safe space for her students to learn and improve in a fun yet challenging way, and to find their own creative voice and tap into their human and creative potential. Svea loves teaching and is grateful for each student she has been able to share her passion of dance with.
